Car servicing

Come to MOT city for a full or interim service. We can service your vehicle quickly and efficiently to ensure it is running smoothly and reliably.

Why do I need to get my car serviced?

Regular vehicle servicing is important to ensure your car is always running as well as possible. If your car is fairly new it will need to be serviced regularly in order to ensure the warranty is still valid. If you miss a service this could even void the warranty on your vehicle. Periodic maintenance work on your car can help to identify small issues before they become a major cause for concern

How should I prepare for my car service?

In order to make sure your car service appointment runs as smoothly as possible there are a few things you can do:

  • Make sure the boot is empty – we will inspect your spare tyre as a part of the service and this is usually located underneath the boot of the car.
  • Bring your service book with you – we will need to check when certain parts were last replaced such as spark plugs and brake fluid.
  • Alloy wheel keys or locking nuts – we will need to remove your wheels as a part of the service.

I've used MOT City for several years now. The service is always excellent and the work is thorough and professional.

What does a car service include?

The exact work we do whilst servicing your vehicle will depend upon its age. We offer either an interim service or a full service. These include:

Interim service:

  • Replace oil, oil filter and air filter using genuine parts
  • Check lubricant levels
  • Check tyre pressure
  • Ensure all vehicle lights are working correctly
  • Treat the engine with Forte advanced formula motor flush and fuel treatment
  • Visual check of brakes and suspension

Full service:

  • Replace oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter and fuel filter using genuine parts.
  • Replace spark plugs if required
  • Check lubricant levels
  • Check tyre pressure
  • Ensure all vehicle lights are working correctly
  • Conduct a full brake check
  • Treat the engine with Forte advanced formula motor flush and fuel treatment

What is the difference between a car service and MOT test?

An MOT is an inspection of your vehicle to ensure it is safe and roadworthy; it is checked against a strict checklist of criteria which is set out by the DVSA. Without a valid MOT you cannot legally drive your vehicle. The MOT test itself does not include any repairs or replacement parts, though we may suggest repairs in order for your vehicle to pass the test.

A service is not a legal requirement, and focuses more on the overall functioning of your car. In a way a service is more thorough, as we will do things like change oil filters, which are not included in an MOT because they do not directly affect how safe your car is on the road.

Are there hidden costs?

It is hard to give a set figure for how much your service will cost because it depends on what needs to be repaired or replaced. Once we have completed the usual checks we will speak to you and advise you of any parts that need to be replaced.  We will then proceed with fitting the relevant parts once you have agreed to it. We will also advise you of any work that may need to be done in the near future.
